Family Photoshoots should include you

Family Photoshoot with mother in the photo

Why am I posting a picture of myself in my pj's with my daughter?

Because I want to send a message out to those of you who put up barriers when considering booking a family photoshoot. Because I was you.

I had very few images of myself with my children up until last year. It has taken a long while to break through the mindset that taking photos of myself is ‘narcissistic’. It is absolutely not. It’s real life!

“I exist, and I want to exist in our family photos.”

Your children love you for who you are. Not what you think is the 'ideal' version of you. Not when you’ve gained more confidence in your appearance for whatever reason. You are their ideal right now. I want to show you that it’s not the messy hair or the pjs that you see here  (well ok, you do see this a bit!) But it’s a photo of a mother spending time with her daughter. The way she does every day. So I'm glad that I took this, because it’s proof that I was here too.

I'm also sharing this to show you that if I can take a photo of myself, before coffee, without looking at the camera, un-showered, with no make up and somehow look semi presentable - then I promise that whatever I take of you when I do look through the camera lens will be a million times better!

You matter. You are part of their world. And you need to be in these photos.
